Will you look at that! Isn’t that glorious?!? It’s, it’s, it’s…it’s indescribably beautiful! It reminds me of the Fourth of July! Turn off all the lights. I want to see what it looks like from the street. – The old man, A Christmas Story
Well it is a cat tower, you nincompoop, but it’s a major award!
Inspired by the cult classic 1983 holiday film about a boy and his solitary Christmas wish for a BB gun, we took one of the most visually memorable items of the film, the “major award” that the “old man” wins, a reading lamp in the shape of a woman’s leg covered in fishnet stockings, and the crate it comes in, and we made it into a feline-friendly piece of holiday art.
With a footprint of 20″ deep by 40″ wide by 60″ tall, this ensemble includes a functioning leg-lamp (with fishnet encased in resin to avoid cat scratching) fixed atop a custom-made, hand-stained table, along with a simulated “crate” built entirely of solid plywood with three carpeted cat-perches within as well as a top, carpeted cat-perch with faux straw packing emanating below it. The crate is fully sealed with a polyacrylic to preserve its longevity and includes painted notices of FRAGILE and (t)HIS END UP, in keeping with the movie. The crate and top perch, once-assembled, swivel to allow you to position it appropriately for your display and for your kitty’s ease of climbing.
Delivered in a box measuring 20″ x 20″ x 40″ the ensemble requires assembly, with all hardware included. And it easily disassembles and stores back in its packaging for off-season storage.
Price shown includes shipping in the lower 48 states.
As with almost all of our items, this is custom-made and we can make more on demand. At the moment, though, this is the only one of its kind.
