The Paw Project
The Paw Project’s mission is to educate the public about the painful and crippling effects of feline declawing, to promote animal welfare through the abolition of the practice of declaw surgery, and to rehabilitate cats that have been declawed.
Many people, including animal lovers, do not realize that declawing is a surgical procedure in which the animal’s toes are amputated at the last joint. A portion of the bone, not just the nail, is removed. Declawing may result in permanent lameness, arthritis, and other long-term complications. The practice, although common in the United States, is actually illegal in many countries. Great Britain’s Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons goes so far as to declare declawing “unnecessary mutilation.”
Zen by Cat: FIP Research
Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is caused by a virus belonging to the coronavirus group. The feline coronavirus only causes illness in cats. In healthy cats, the immune system can defend against FIP and keep the cat healthy. In cats with a weak immune system, the virus is deadly.
The founder of Zen By Cat, Peter, learned firsthand about the devastation of FIP after losing a precious adopted kitten named Miss Bean. There’s nothing worse than seeing an innocent animal suffer. We believe in hope and continued research to develop a cure for FIP!
Mission Meow
In 2022, Sally Williams created a non-profit called Mission Meow, whose aim is to provide grants to small feline-centric nonprofits by combining business crowdfunding with individual donations.
With sponsorship from various businesses, Mission Meow is able to maximize their contributions and to direct the funds to places that truly create meaningful change for cats in need.
